Safety

The blast cabinet is designed to contain all media. If you notice any compromises in the cabinet or gloves (holes, cracks, etc…) Do not use the blast cabinet. Silica sand (crystalline) can cause silicosis. We do not want airborne silica in our work space.

Do:

  • Close and latch the lid before blasting.
  • Ensure the air pressure is below 125 PSI per OEM spec.
  • Check the cabinet, gloves, and ports for visible damage, potential leaks, missing connections.

Do Not:

  • Blast with the lid open.
  • Intentionally Blast the gloves.
  • Exceed 125 PSI

Setup

  1. Open the cabinet by unlatching both latches on the front.
  2. Check that the media in the cabinet is what you want to blast your part with.
  3. Check that the ceramic nozzle on the blaster is what you want to use.
  4. Put your part in the cabinet.
  5. Close the cabinet door.
  6. Review the Compressed Air Usage Guide. Check the pressure gauge located to the right of the machine and adjust for your need DO NOT exceed 125 PSI per OEM spec. If you don’t know what pressure you need, keep this adjustment low (60 PSI) until you determine you need a higher pressure.
  7. Plug in the dust collector and the light. You will need an outlet extender to plug into the fellow extension cable.
  8. The red switch on the lookers left of the machine controls the light. The light helps tremendously with visibility.

Usage

  1. Turn on the dust collector. The switch is located on the back of the orange cylinder near the top.  This helps with visibility as well as reducing the amount of particles from your part that are left over in the blast media.
  2. Insert your hands into the gloves. Grab the blaster and if needed, your part.
  3. Squeeze the trigger on the handle of the blaster to start blasting.
  4. Point the nozzle at the area you want to blast and start blasting.
  5. After blasting, let the dust collector clear the cabinet before opening (wait 5ish seconds).

Monitoring

Look out for leaking media. If you see, feel or hear air/ media coming from the cabinet or through the gloves, STOP Blasting. You do not want silicosis

Shutdown & Cleanup

  1. Turn off the dust collector and light.
  2. Clean any large particles that came from your part. These can clog the blaster or damage other peoples parts.
