In this class, you will observe as Juniper tears down a Prusa MK4S’s extruder and X-axis, learn what each component does and the mechanics of a 3D printer, and then collaborate with classmates to rebuild it from Prusa’s official assembly guide. After this, you’ll learn about how to troubleshoot the printers and run through some practice scenarios.
You will learn about:
- The three axis motors that operate the printer.
- Belt tensioning and lubrication procedures.
- The construction and intricacies/oddities of the Nextruder system.
- Prusa’s official recommendations for printed replacement parts.
- How to run setup calibrations and self-tests.
- Common member complaints about the printers and how to troubleshoot them.
After taking this class, you will become a trusted maintainer and expected to assist in troubleshooting and repairs when you are available.
Juniper will provide food for attendees from the SIG budget.
Please only sign up for this event if you have previously spoken with Juniper about maintenance. If you haven’t done so but are interested in this class, please DM her on Slack.
