Event Type

Take your sewing skills from “homemade” to “high-end” in this technical, precision-focused workshop. This class is designed for the intermediate to advanced maker who wants to master the internal engineering of a garment or accessory, leaving raw edges completely enclosed for a flawless, couture finish.

Workshop Focus

  • Couture Construction: Move beyond the basic straight stitch and zigzag edge. This session is all about creating durable and clean seams.

  • The French Corner Challenge: The ultimate test of precision. Using a French seam without getting raw edges caught in the corner.

  • French Seam Corner or Gore: Learn to assemble and sew a clean interior corner for 3d construction or Gore inserts. Using a french seam lets you create a finished edge and helps you better understand more complicated construction.

Advanced Techniques You’ll Master

  • Perfecting the French Seam: How to create a delicate, enclosed seam on both straight edges and complex curves.

  • Mastering the French Corner: Learn the precise pivoting, trimming, and pressing techniques to keep your corners crisp and completely clean.

  • Bulk Management: Strategies for trimming, grading, and clipping seams.
