Discover the meditative and tactile art of rug hooking in this comprehensive two-part workshop. This series takes you from a blank canvas to a textured masterpiece, covering everything from design theory to hands-on technique.

Session 1: The Blueprint & Palette

  • Theory & Inspiration: An informational deep dive into the history and styles of rug hooking.

  • Custom Design: Learn how to translate your ideas onto backing fabric. You will spend this session sketching and finalizing your own original pattern.

  • Color Curation: Explore Carol’s library of fibers to select the perfect yarn weights and color palettes to bring your design to life. You will leave the session with color ideas so you can purchase your own yarn, or use the yarn at Denhac.

Session 2: Hooking Technique & Execution <—- You are here

  • The Fundamentals: Master the “pull-up” technique to create consistent loops and professional-grade texture.

  • Instructional Guidance: Get hands-on coaching on tension control, navigating curves, and filling in your pattern efficiently.

  • Troubleshooting: Learn how to fix common mistakes and finish the edges of your piece for a durable, long-lasting result.

Workshop Highlights

  • Part One: Focused on conceptualization and material selection.

  • Part Two: Focused on active crafting and technical mastery.
