Operation

Safety

Standard safety rules for the metal shop apply when using this machine. wear safety glasses! No open toed shoes No loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair that isn’t tied up No gloves! gloves can get caught in the spinning blade and suck your hand in!

Setup and Usage

Plug in the power cord to a 120v outlet

Clamp the key you would like to copy in the tracing clamp (Left clamp on the TH-292 Right clamp on the BW-668)

For TH-292

Adjust the tracing bar so that it contacts the master key with enough travel that the cutter will hit the full depth of the deepest key
move the slide assembly all the way to the right and hold the power button down until the slide starts to move.
let go of the power button and allow the slide to travel the full distance of the key
turn off the machine and remove your copied key, flip the key and the master and repeat if it is a double sided key
deburr the key and test in your lock

For BW-668

Monitoring

Make sure the clamp is tight and your keys don’t move when cutting. this will throw off the registration and ruin the key blank.

Shutdown & Cleanup

Dust off any shavings from the cutting and coil up the power cords put the machine back of it’s storage shelf when you are finished

Troubleshooting

If your newly cut key does not work in the lock the most common problems are either you did not properly deburr your key or that you did not properly index the black when doing the initial set-up. use some sandpaper or the wire wheel on the bench grinder to smooth out the new key along the teeth and try it again, if it still doesn’t work then compare the two keys very closely and make sure the alignment of the teeth is the same. If they are not then you will need to re-cut the key with a new blank.

Materials

The TH-292 can be used to cut most standard single and double sided keys. The BW-668 can cut dimple lock and groove style keys.
