Hello, and thanks for reading this. I’m sure you’ve been inundated with COVID-19 responses more than you’ve been asked if you’d like to accept cookies these days. We recognize it can be difficult to constantly be reminded of this, but we wanted to let you know what the guidelines for visiting the space are as well as what we’re doing to help.
Until further notice, denhac is closed for non-members. This includes visiting when a member is present as it makes it much harder to do any form of contact tracing if a member gets infected. While we love having guests visit our space and check out all that denhac has to offer, we simply must prioritize the health and safety of our members. Please note that if you signed up online, but have not been able to get your ID checked and given an RFID card, you will not keep being charged for a service you cannot use. When we are able to open the space back up again for non-members, you will be contacted so that you can get your RFID card and get access to the space. Your next payment date will be one month after we check your ID.
However, to help you join in on the community, any new member signups will be automatically added to our slack and member’s mailing list so that you can join in on the community aspect. You will not be considered a “member in good standing” for things such as board electability or voting for board members. If you need access to the space ASAP, please reach out to us and we’ll see what we can do.
For our members, the space is open by using your RFID card. In full disclosure, we are logging card scans to better facilitate any and all necessary steps to protect our members. Our primary motivation here is not to invade your privacy but to be able to know if a member who has tested positive has also been at the space recently. We hope you understand, and if you have any concerns, you should reach out to us. Only a small subset of people have access to this log to further protect your privacy.
Finally, I want to celebrate some of the efforts our members have been doing. If you’re in slack, check out our #covid-19-wanna-help channel where our members are coordinating printing face shields and ventilator splitters for local hospitals. Finding ways to use the tools available to us in a time of crisis really shows off the maker spirit that we love.
We will continue to monitor and closely follow city, state, and national guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.
