This week is quiet compared to last week… Here’s what we’ve got going on!
Monday, July 22: Empty.
Tuesday, July 23, 8 p.m.: Weekly Open House. Open ended debauchery. Hang out, play games, collaborate, shoot the breeze with some fellow geeks while enjoying a beverage! Whatever you like! This is also a good time for n00bs to come get a tour of the space because there’s always a ton of members hanging around. RSVP on Meet Up.
Wednesday, July 24, 6 p.m.: LPFM Admin Meeting via Google Hangout. This is for those of you interested in what it takes to get an LPFM license – specifically FCC rules and regulations. To get in on the action send a request to contact (at) denhac (dot) org. Be sure to include your Gmail address in the request.
Wednesday, July 24, 7 p.m.: LPFM Engineering Team Meeting. This is the weekly meeting for the team responsible for the technical logistics of applying for and eventually maintaining the LPFM community radio station. Interested? RSVP on Meet Up.
Thursday, July 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Work From Denhac Day. Grab your laptop and bring a lunch! It’s the weekly Work From Denhac Day! Like you need another excuse to get out of your mom’s basement. RSVP on Meet Up.
Thursday, July 25, 7:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.: LPFM Content Team Meeting. This is the weekly meeting for the team that makes content and programming decisions and also creates content for the LPFM community radio station. RSVP on Meet Up.
Friday, July 26, 8 p.m.: GAME NIGHT! I know what you’re thinking: ‘OMG! This is too much human interaction for one week! Are you people INSANE?!’ The answer is no, we’re not. Interaction is good. Interaction plus games is BETTER! We have games or bring a game and make some new friends! RSVP on Meet Up.
Saturday, July 27, 12 p.m. to ???: Open House and BBQ. SSDD (same shenanigans, different day). Another open house for those who can’t make it during the week or just another reason to get out of the aforementioned mom’s basement. Food, good company, and things to take apart and put back together. What more could you ask for? Come say hello!
*UPDATE!* This class has been cancelled and we will let you know when/if it is rescheduled. We do not have a new date at this time. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. :(
Saturday, July 27, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.: SFS presents: Dan Kulinski teaching Linux Virtualization with KVM. Learn Linux virtualization with open source tools. During the class you will build and deploy a virtual machine using both GUI and CLI tools. Time permitting a quick introduction to OpenStack will be given. Please Bring: Laptop with wireless access and a VNC client installed. Familiarity with an RPM based distribution; CentOS, Red Hat or OpenSuse, will be helpful. RSVP on Meet Up.
Sunday, July 28, 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m: Kids Coder Dojo. The Kids Coder Dojo at Denhac is a weekly computer programming class designed for elementary through high school-aged kids. Students will begin by using a free and open source visual programming language called Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/, available on Windows, MacOSX and Linux), and will be able to move on to more advanced languages as they progress at their own pace.
Attendees under the age of 13 are required to be accompanied by a designated guardian (though guardians are encouraged to attend for all ages). Attendees should bring a laptop or netbook for each student they bring if they can (and you are encouraged to bring extras if possible for those without access to a computer). RSVP on Meet Up.
Denhac is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of technology, art, DIY, and craft-related classes for all ages, and survives on donations and membership dues. As with (almost) all Denhac classes, attendance is free of charge and membership is not required. Donations are strongly encouraged.
Come check us out! We’d love to meet you!!
